Where we learn about human decisions, behaviours,
systems, and beliefs that shape how businesses work.

AI can automate the task, but it cannot decide what matters.

That is the question behind The Business Anthropologist.

A dishwasher can wash dishes. But someone still has to

  • decide there are dishes to wash

  • load the machine

  • choose a cycle

  • notice when the detergent is running low

  • & buy more

AND decide whether the machine was worth having in the first
place.

Where does human agency sit when more and more tasks become
automated?

AI is changing what marketing, product, sales, operations, research,
and leadership can do. But none of these functions exist in isolation.
They are all connected parts of the same business system.

To understand what AI is changing, we need to understand the
system as a whole.

The Business Anthropologist

I have spent most of my career in marketing, working across
retail, financial services, creative agencies, and SaaS.

I have also built my own pre-revenue product and spent several
years interviewing people who have built businesses at a much
larger scale. Along the way, I became less interested in
marketing as a function and more interested in how business
works as a whole.

Marketing does not exist on its own. Neither do sales, product,
operations, technology, or leadership. They are all parts of the
same machine.

The Business Anthropologist is my attempt to understand the
mechanics behind that machine & how those mechanics are
changing as AI takes over more of what businesses do.

Through conversations, writing, research, and observation, I
explore how people make choices, how organizations behave,
and what remains uniquely human in business.
